The Federal Bar Association, Oregon State Bar Civil Rights Section, & Oregon Chapter of the National Bar Association present Litigating Section 1983 Civil Rights Cases: Current Issues & Trends, generously sponsored by Barran Liebman LLP, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, PC, and Stoel Rives LLP.
Do you represent plaintiffs or defend public employers in Section 1983 litigation? Are you interested in learning more about Section 1983 litigation? What are the most recent developments in civil rights law? How does law enforcement respond to encounters with mentally ill individuals?
This seminar offers a dynamic panel of speakers who will explore a range of hot topics in civil rights litigation, including racial and religious profiling, Section 1983 employment claims, recent developments in civil rights law, and petitions for attorney fees. Our panel of federal judges, including Judges Brown, Mosman and Clarke, will share their experiences and suggestions relating to Section 1983 litigation. Judge Coffin will discuss warrantless searches of electronic devices. Our mental health panel will share their experiences in advocating for disabled clients, mental health care provided to incarcerated persons, and law enforcement’s interactions with persons suffering from mental illness.
If your practice includes Section 1983 litigation, you won’t want to miss this CLE.
